Questions to ask

The right tutor knows the subject, knows your child’s exam and can explain things in a way your child understands. Here’s how to check.

Questions to ask

  1. Have you taught this exam or syllabus before?
  2. How do you find out where my child is struggling?
  3. What does a typical lesson look like?
  4. How will you share progress with me?
  5. What homework, if any, do you set?
  6. How do you handle a student who’s anxious or unmotivated?
  7. What’s your cancellation policy?
  8. Can we start with a trial lesson?

Listen to how they explain. If it’s clear to you, it’s likely clear to your child.Margin note from Grace
