You learn about a selected content topic, the research process, and about your own strengths and weaknesses with the writing process which creates a self evaluative process. After graduation you will continue learning about the world and its vast complexities and diversities therefore there is no better way to improve the skills of life-long learning than through writing an individual research paper. The process forces you to ask good questions, find the sources to answer them, present your answers to an audience, and defend your answers against detractors. Those are skills that you will use in any profession you might eventually pursue. Instructions The research paper is to be written in a word doc and to adhere to APA format with regards to cover page, in text citations, at least 4 scholarly references and a page count of 6-8 pages, size 12 font. The cover page and reference page do not count towards the content 6-8 pages. The research paper can be submitted at any time before the close of the course. 1. Select a topic and create an outline. You can use numerical or alphabetical format so it is easy to stick to. If you are a visual learner, you could also create an organizational web chart. (submitted in Module 5). 2. Set up the structure for your research paper. This will start with an APA Style cover page, follow with a section for the content of your research paper, and finish with a separate References page. The References page should include at least four APA Style citations that you have found that relate to your research topic. Review the APA Style Guide on the Purdue OWL website if you need help formatting the citations.If you choose to add or change references later on, that is fine as well. 3. Author final draft of research paper and submit. The final research paper should include a cover page, 6-8 pages of content, and a references page. All items should be in APA Style.
