For this discussion topic, you need to have listened to the scene from Assassins. If you have not done that- go back and listen to that while reading through the PDF with the lyrics so you can get the full details of what is happening in the scene. Often in shows there are characters that are not likable at all or hard to like. In the case of Assassins, the characters are all people who have murdered or attempted to murder someone. How can you possibly connect with someone like that? Keep in mind that the point of the show Assassins was NOT to glorify what these people did. In fact – it was to get us as a culture to look at why they did what they did. These were real people with real feelings and needs. It would be easy and wrong to just write them off as “wackos”.
