Watch at least one season of a reality TV show of your choice and assess what the show says about our society.
You may watch a current show or an older one. If you watch an older show/season of a show, be sure to analyze what the show says about society at the time it aired. For example: Frontier House on PBS aired in 2001. By looking at the lives of the three different families and what they value going into the experiment, the viewer can gain a understanding about class, socieo-economic differences, and non-traditional couples in the early 2000s. The most recent season of Below Deck: Mediterranean highlights women in leadership roles and the way the producers frame the season highlights gender in the work place.

APA format – title page and abstract not required
*Early reality TV does a better job of catching candid characters. Keep in mind later shows do have an element of staging to them but producers create a show that is likable to keep viewers. Think about why the show you picked is aired and why people relate to it and keep watching. Even if it seems horrible, it is saying something about values and culture.
** While you may watch the same show as your friends, you must write unique papers assessing it.
