ARCH 103_HOUSE FINAL TEMPLATE.pln

DIRECTIONS:

Refer to the handouts and instructional videos as a guide to help you construct your BIM model

and layout sheet. Download the ArchiCAD 24 Solo file from Blackboard.

Template File Name:

ARCH 103_HOUSE FINAL TEMPLATE.pln

Work Environment Folder Name:

Use the built-in work environment called “Architecture Profile 24”.

In ArchiCAD, complete the following tasks in your 3D model:

  1. Model foundation, floors, walls, roofs, door & windows, Kitchens & bathrooms.
  1. Ensure each element in your model is on the appropriate “layer” and has a correct

“Element ID”. Element ID’s are labeled in your “kit of parts”.

3. Ensure each element is on the correct “Story”. If you copy properties from the kit of parts

with the “eye dropper” tool or drag copies into your drawing they will automatically be

assigned to the correct story and elevation.

4. Generate 2D PDF drawings by publishing views derived from the “Project Map” from your

3D model including:

– Plans (basement floor, first floor, and roof)

– Elevations (all four elevations: North, East, South & West)

– Building section (Transverse & Longitudinal Building sections)

– Enlarged Kitchen Plan & Elevation (extra credit worth 25pts.)

Grading Criteria & Checklists:

Use the following checklist to ensure that your drawings have the minimum required information

prior to printing. Attach this sheet to your submittals.

PLAN VIEWS:

1. Organize the drawing on the sheet to include site and title block. Landscape format.

2. Include exterior elevation markers for all exterior elevations.

3. A North arrow

4. A drawing title and scale. (use ARCH D Presentation sheet master for this class)

5. A title block (use ARCH D Presentation sheet master for this class)

6. All rooms and areas are clearly labeled with 5pt letters and numbers. Check spelling

and use standard abbreviations (see cover sheet in sample packet)

7. All exterior dimensions are displayed with extension lines extending toward object.

Maintain a consistent distance between end of extension line and the object

dimensioned. (2 inches)

8. Consistently represented tick marks 1/8” long oriented at 45 degrees. (Use the favorites

exterior and interior dimensions).

9. Dimension order and strings should proceed from smallest dimension closest to the

building and longest ie. overall dimension furthest from the building. See sample packet.

10. Dimension to centerline of windows and doors unless it is veneer construction in which

case dimension to edges of openings. See sample packet.

11. Include dimensions to centerline of partitions that intersect exterior walls when possible.

Or if dimensioned at the interior provide a general note indicating whether dimensions are

to finish or face of framing. See sample packet. (ALL DIMENSIONS ARE FACE OF

FRAME)

12. Include door swings with appropriate line weight. (use favorite or sample elements

provided, See sample packet).

13. Include door and window tags. Doors use 3/8” diameter circles with numbers; Windows

use 3/8” squares with letters. If the door or window is a unique size or operates

differently use a different letter or number in the tag to identify it. See sample packet.

14. All walls drawn to consistent width (use favorite or sample elements provided, See

sample packet) with appropriate line weight.

15. Include all cabinetry, fixtures, doors, windows and material hatch (tile floors etc.). Use

lightest line weight on these items.

16. Use Architectural Planning Template for fixtures. Label kitchen appliances with

abbreviations. (ie. Range = R, Refrigerator = Ref., Oven = Oven, Dishwasher = DW,

Cooktop/Burner = (#) Brnr., Microwave = MW.). See sample elements provided.

17. Label stairs with directional arrow.

18. Use hidden lines to indicate significant structure or openings above, ie. skylights,

beams or roof overhangs. Maintain consistent segment length and spacing between

segments.

ROOF PLANS

1. Indicate all roof slopes with a directional arrow and pitch indicated as x:12.

2. Label all hips, valleys, and ridges.

3. Indicate outer perimeter wall line with a solid line.

4. Indicate any ground level paving, driveways, decks etc. with a light contour line. Omit any

surface hatch or delineation.

5. Label roof finish material in at least one location.

BUILDING SECTIONS:

1. 1/4” = 1’0” is the scale for our assignment.

2. Show foundations with solid lines if the section cuts through the foundation elements.

3. Show all major materials with appropriate hatch.

4. Dimension in feet and inches. Center dimensions over line.

5. Dimension Top of Subfloor to Top of Wall plate. Optional string dimensions would provide

info for top of floor, window and door head, top plate, attic, loft or second floor.

6. Dimension height of rails, ledges seats or parapets.

7. Provide roof pitch symbol.

8. Indicate with leader and notation all materials and assemblies visible in each section view.

9. Indicate door, window, & skylight tags that correspond to those indicated in plan.

10. Title each individual section as indicated on the handout.

ELEVATIONS:

11. 1/4” = 1’0” is the preferred scale for plan and elevation drawings for building exteriors.

12. Show nearest foundations with hidden lines.

13. Show all major materials with appropriate hatch.

14. Dimension in feet and inches. Center dimensions over line.

15. Dimension Finished floor to Finished ceiling. Optional string dimensions would provide info

for top of floor, window and door head, top plate, attic floor or second floor.

16. Dimension height of rails, ledges seats or parapets.

17. Provide roof pitch symbol.

18. Indicate with leader and notation all materials and assemblies visible in each

elevation.

19. Indicate door and window swings on each window and door.

20. Indicate door, window, skylight tags that correspond to those indicated in plan.

21. Title each individual elevation.

DELIVERABLES:

You will create PDF folio in ArchiCAD using the “D – ARCH103 Architectural sheet” master sheet.

This is an ARCH D (36×24) sheet. Place all your drawings at 1/4” = 1’-0” scale on the sheets.

Then, publish your sheets as a single PDF document should closely resemble the sample packet.

Please submit your house project both as a PDF and ArchiCAD .pln file and Submit your work on

Blackboard.
