In today’s world, technology affects the way individuals communicate, learn, and think. It helps society and determines how people interact with their smart devices on a daily basis. A range of technological developments will drive smart-home technology well beyond what’s available on store shelves today. Due to the busy lifestyle, saving time is more valuable than spending it on daily home routines. People are looking for specific devices to make their home automated and making life more comfortable and safer. Hence, using smart home devices can significantly solve many problems related to home security, energy (utilities) consumption, and undesired accidents such as a fire.
We profoundly believe that smart home is the future since it would help people to save energy, money, automate many routine tasks, and improve their security and safety. In the smart home of the future, the AI platforms could serve as the brain for entire homes, learning about residents and coordinating and automating all of their various smart devices. Due to the great variety of smart home equipment and brands, gathering information about them is a relatively complex process that may arise for the audience. As a result, having a comprehensive website can create a good opportunity for customers to have easier access to first-hand information and services.
- Industry and Competition
Smart Home is a residence equipped with a number of devices that automate tasks which were usually handled by humans. Homeowners can manage them with applications, voice commands, automation or AI technology, and rapidly growing industry. Google, Apple, and Amazon may be the world’s biggest rivals in developing AI software solutions for smart home devices. Still, the three tech giants have made an unusual pact to improve the products together for consumers. Competitors like Philips, Eco bee, Bosch, Siemens, and Samsung are working hard to produce hardware accessories for Smart Home.
- The Business Model (Value Proposition and Target Market, Revenue Model)
Value Proposition:
In terms of value proposition, we offer a wide range of smart home accessories packages based on the customer’s budget, interest, and home’s specifications, all in one place, including consulting services, sales, installation, and after-sales services.
The Target Market:
- The Greater Vancouver residents who are interested in technology.
- People who work long hours and do not have time for daily routine tasks.
- People who travel frequently and have a passion to control and automate their homes.
- Global customers will have access to only the sales and consulting services such as comparison of equal accessories from different brands, pros and cons, and personalized suggestions for the customers.
Revenue Model
We are proposing three different revenue models, which are described in detail below. In our freemium marketing strategy, we offer both free and premium services in order to increase our website traffic to benefit from our advertising revenue model. In the subscription revenue model, we provide premium consulting services, including unlimited access to comparing smart accessories, check the compatibility of different brands of accessories, and after-sales services. Moreover, we would earn sales revenue and commissions by implementing the sale revenue model and affiliate revenue model.
- Main Ideas for Our Future E-Commerce Strategy
In the first stage, the goal is to increase site traffic by providing free services and consulting about smart home accessories. Therefore, we can implement the advertising revenue model. Secondly, when the site traffic increases, we offer premium service to the customers we have attracted for the subscription revenue model. We can also increase our income through the sales revenue model and affiliate revenue model.
