Permanent natural sources

Since the early 19OOs,the Grand Canyon has become a popular attraction for tourists. The lack of potable water is a major hindrance to visitors, however, as permanent natural sources of water are rare or nonexistent on the canyon rim. The Utah Parks Company plans to construct a 12,500-ft pipeline of schedule 80 commercial steel pipe to supply water to the rim. Water at 60°F is to be piped to the North Rim from Roaring Springs, a vertical distance of 3,900 ft. A design water-flow rate of 300 gpm is planned to fill two 2,000,000-gal storage tanks. The rim water system will be supplied by the storage tanks. Using the above information, suggest a pipe size and determine the pumping requirement for the system that you would recommend. Explain the logic behind your selection of pipe size and pumping requirements.
