The following discussions will highlight the different roles and responsibilities that I will have while working on my placement role as a site supervisor. I will discuss the various intricacies of the job role along with identifying the considerations and measures that I will emphasise in order to execute my professional responsibilities efficiently.

SECTION 1: LEARNING GOALS

Learning Goal 1: Outline how you expect to use your initiative and skill set within the role

In my goal of working efficiently as a site supervisor, I will take the initiative of accumulating my strengths and skills so that I am able to perform my responsibilities efficiently. As is evident from my strengths assessment, I have several crucial skills like time working, multi-tasking, quality assessing, strategy planning, negotiating and problem solving and I will use each one of them within this role.

Learning Goals 2: How will you apply academic course studies / theories / models to this work related learning experience?

I will try to implement the different learning and theories that I have attained through my academic course and look out for improvement areas in order to ensure that I am able to work cohesively within my work related learning experience.

Learning Goal 3: State what you would aim to gain understanding of in relation to the particular organisation / operation of a business / project in general.

I would initially strive to attain a wider understanding and knowledge of what the job demands and ensure that I have all the skill and requirements to function efficiently in that role. Being influenced from Rowe and Zegwaard (2017), I will try to enhance my strengths and control my weakness in order to accomplish my responsibilities efficiently.

Learning Goal 4: How you hope to enhance your future career progression through this placement experience?

This placement experience will help me to understand my professional strengths and weaknesses efficiently and will encourage me to take proactive steps to improve my areas of weakness efficiently. This will offer me the necessary work experience so that I may find it easier to attain future career progression effectively.

SECTION 2: LEARNING CONTRACT SECTION

  1. Brief statement of why you have chosen this role for the module

I have chosen the role of a site supervisor as this sphere interests me and will challenge me to learnt intricacies of this sector efficiently. I will gain experience in overseeing and coordinating the daily operations of the worksite for ensuring highest level of performance as well as adherence to health and safety guidelines. The literary underpinnings of Suleman (2016) and my personal value teaches me to coordinate with each other while working and I will be able to put this skill to use while managing and instructing the different site workers and leading projects until they are completed.

  1. Your commitment: how you will motivate yourself to excel in the role?

I will motivate myself by consistently trying to communicate with my seniors so that they advise on areas where I may improve myself. I will try to incorporate their advice which is expected to help me in excelling in this role of a site supervisor. Learning from Ornellas et al. (2019), I will also look out for improvement opportunities consistently and ensure that I am able to perform well and fulfil all my responsibilities efficiently.

  1. Your understanding of the expectations for professional conduct in your particular role covering

I acknowledge the fact that I will have to exhibit professional workplace behaviour while dealing with my fellow on-site workers. I will ensure that they are able to follow my directions and will take their views and opinions through collective decision making as I believe this would help the team in overcoming different challenges and complications in a more efficient manner. As I have learnt from Abas and Imam (2016), I will always rely on the aspect of open communication with my line manager as well as with my colleagues so that there is a proper flow of information within the work premises. I will see to it that my subordinates feel free to communicate with me regarding their problems and challenges related to work and I will ensure to resolve them in the best possible manner. I will always adhere to the different legal provisions and ensure that intellectual property rights and employee or document confidentiality is being maintained in the most efficient manner so that the company does not have to any kind of operational or legal problems.

My job role expects me to exhibit professional behaviour at all times and learning from Kaushal (2016) I will ensure that I dress and present myself professionally in front of my colleagues and seniors. In addition to this, I am a punctual individual in general and this will ensure that I am able to exhibit punctuality even during my work hours. I will always remain on time and inform my seniors in case of any urgent situations that might require me to be late to office. In addition to these, I will always value my health and safety responsibilities and see to it that nobody working within the premise faces any kind of health and safety issue due to mismanagement or lack of precision and care. I will ensure preparing and presenting the site inductions effectively along with dealing with the toolbox and safety briefings. I will also examine and manage the safety hazards and ensure that appropriate welfare activities and site rules are followed.

Conclusion

It is therefore evident from these discussions that the role of site supervisor will challenge me to remain at my professional best and will provide me with the confidence and experience to excel in my future professional life as well. I have discussed my interests in this role and the manner in which I aspire to motivate myself along with the ways in which I will fulfil professional conduct expectations efficiently.
