Coursework Brief for report
Specifications:
The report is individual work and is worth 70% of your mark for the supply chain module. You
should prepare a report answering the questions listed below about the General Motors case
study.
Your report should not exceed 2,000 words, inclusive of tables and references.
The deadline is 08/01/2021 and your report should be submitted as a Word or pdf file on the
Supply Chain Management Moodle page, where a Turnitin link will be available.
Brief:
Read the case study entitled: General Motors: “Electrification capacity constraints” from Ivey
Publishing. A link will be provided on Moodle for you access the case study. Also download the
student spreadsheet that comes with this case study.
In your report, answer the following questions (20 points each):
1. What are the possible production options that Tang can consider? Which of the options
are viable for the Orion’s plant production rate increase in March 2018, or for the China
market, or both? For the viable options, design a supply plan to ensure both the Orion
plant and the China market receive their expected shipments on time.
2. What are the major cost components that Tang needs to consider when preparing the final
proposal?
3. Provide a total enterprise costs analysis for each viable scenario.
4. Discuss possible risks in the capacity selection and how these risks can be managed.
5. Illustrate the potential impact of one (or several) of the risks discussed in question 4 with
a sensitivity and/or robustness analysis. Which viable option would you recommend
using?

Marking
Each question will be marked on 20 points on the basis of the following criteria:
1. Quality of analysis: Use of key scholarly techniques and frameworks to define the problem
and solve it. Sound and accurate analysis, free of errors. Calculations are correct or based
on acceptable approximations.
2. Quality of supply chain design: Coherence of solution/recommendations: all aspects are
looked at and conflicts are discussed.
3. Professional presentation of report, quality of academic writing, quality of illustrations,
referencing.
