QUESTIONS: What were the formative experiences of the subject’s life? In what ways did her actions conform
to the gender expectations of her day; in what ways did they not? How did her times and her gender shape her
life? What does the subject’s experiences suggest about the United States during the subject’s lifetime? Finally,
what did you find most interesting about her, and why?
