Personality Traits and Leadership Behaviors- Historical Leader Analysis
The leader is a person as well as a role. One cannot separate the two. Who you are as a leader is also who you are as a person. And leadership is usually a very public process performed under time and/or interpersonal pressure.
The purpose of this assignment is to gain deeper insight into the process of leadership. This is by assessing the of a current or historical leader. You may write about any leader from any field (business, politics, military, sports, etc.).
You must ensure that you can access enough source material to provide a detailed assessment of his or her personality traits and leadership behaviors. At a minimum apply two personality traits (i.e., extraversion and agreeableness) and transformational leadership theory.
Personality Traits and Leadership Behaviors- Historical Leader Analysis
Can you define great leaders by their accomplishments? Then can you define leaders by the appraisal of their followers? Also is nature or nurture the more important factor in determining leadership? Can you learn leardership, or is there a magical combination of trait, behavior and situation that allows leaders to rise to the occasion? Historically, in western civilization, we’ve struggled to answer these questions, and in the next few sections we’ll give you enough information that you can start contemplating these issues along with us.
