You will analyse your own productions of two sentences of English:

a.The beige hue on the waters of the river impressed all.

b.With the stores closed for the evening, the girls left.

1.Record the sentences. Make a high quality acoustic recording of your own production of each sentence.

2.Transcribe each utterance. Provide a transcription of each sentence at the appropriate level to capture the details of your own production and to facilitate a segmental analysis.

3.Segment and label each phone on an annotation tier. Identify all allophones and coarticulatory details relevant to your analysis. In addition mark the beginning and end of each phone as accurately as possible.

4.In an accompanying description, list each consonant in the utterance. Describe the acoustic cues used to identify each consonant and criteria used to locate the segment boundaries. Refer to place, manner, and voicing cues. Each consonant in each utterance must be identified, described in the sequence in which it appears, and discussed separately. However do not assume that multiple occurrences of the same consonant will all share the same features.
