Learning how to manage personal lifestyle choices is known as the self-help approach. This approach assumes that individuals can control some aspects of the environment that contributes to harming health. Learning how to improve your own personal lifestyle factors to improve health is the first step in learning how to help others in the healthcare field to improve their unhealthy lifestyle habits. Seeking our resources to help you enhance your life can be the first step in living your best life improving your personal health and wellness. Prior to completing this lab, review Your Success Plan UAGC Culture of Care dashboard and read Chapter 1: Understanding Fitness and Wellness in the course text and review the videos The eight dimensions of wellness (Links to an external site.) and The eight dimensions of wellness (Links to an external site.). After reviewing these resources, you will understand there must be a balance between these dimensions to achieve overall health and wellness. For this journal assignment, you will complete a personal assessment of each dimension of wellness.

After reviewing the required resources, assess your personal wellness by completing Laboratory 1-1: Wellness Evaluation in your course textbook. Use the template Download templateto type out your results and answers to these questions. To locate the textbook, navigate to the modules tab on the left-hand side bar in the Canvas classroom. Scroll down through all the modules. The etext can be found at the bottom of the page. Please see the job aid Download job aidfor more assistance. Once completed, submit the template to Waypoint.

Using the template provided, in your journal, examine the effects of certain lifestyle factors on your wellness and think critically about your overall wellness by addressing the following bulleted items:

Describe each area of wellness briefly and include your score for each dimension.
Discuss your three weakest dimensions of wellness.
Explain what current lifestyle factors lead to these weaknesses.
If this dimension is not improved, predict what chronic disease may be the result? Use a reference to support this relationship.
Explain your three strongest dimensions of wellness.
Which of your lifestyle factors led to these strengths? Explain how.
Visit the Your Success Plan UAGC Virtual Learning and Resource Community. Based on your weakest areas, choose a topic and review some of the articles and videos provided. In the space below, discuss a tip or technique you could use to improve one of your weakest dimensions of wellness.
For the journal assignment, use the template Download template. Your journal should be a minimum of two pages in length (not including the title page or reference page). As a minimum, include the course textbook as a reference in your response to this lab activity. Include an APA formatted title page and reference page. Submit to Waypoint by Day 7.
