A description of your core values
As a nurse, my professional values are social justice, honesty, integrity, human dignity and autonomy. These values are a reflection of my spiritual and human approach to the nursing profession. First, I perceive social justice as a concept concerned with having fair relations with others and ensuring that the available resources, social privileges, and opportunities are equally accessible to every person. Second, I perceive honesty as being open with others in their care, especially when something goes wrong or if a care plan/approach has a potential for causing harm. Third, I perceive integrity as the quality of possessing high moral principles such that I treat others the way I would like to be treated and do not take advantage of others. Fourth, I perceive human dignity as acknowledging the integrity and individuality of others. Fifth, I perceive autonomy as the ability to critically think about nursing concepts and undertake the best actions for patients (Helming, Shields &Avino, 2020). As a nurse my mission is to provide patient-centric care that recognizes and addresses the unique needs of patients to include cultural and safety requirements. I expect to continue practicing within the boundaries of my scope and licensure. This will allow me to provide competent nursing care even as I apply my core values.
In addition, my vision is to leverage my nursing knowledge and experience in making government policies as a legislator or staffer. I plan to acquire advanced education that would qualify me as a nursing expert before participating in policy making activities. This is based on the awareness that nurses are not always completely involved in the making of policies that affect. As a nursing expert with advanced education and nursing practice experience, I will be uniquely positioned to identify the issues that affect nurses and nursing care, and ensure that they are addressed in comprehensive policies that incorporate nurses input. The Clifton Strengths Assessment results reveal five themes. First, learner as I seek to learn and discover new things. I am not stumped by the unknown and simply look at it as a challenge that I can conquer. Second, disciplined as I look to create practicability and structure within my environment so that I can set and pursue goals around the structure. Third, individualization as I am a keen observer who assigns an identity based on unique characteristics to everything around me. This has allowed me to know the people around me and get along with them. Fourth, achiever as I always seek to improve by identifying and eliminating my shortcomings. A description of two key behaviors that you wish to strengthen
I wish to strengthen two behaviors. First, I have a rigid and predictable life structure that does not easily introduce new things. I want to be more spontaneous as this would make me more adaptable in identifying and solving problems. Secondly, I am a perfectionist but want to be less of such and more willing to accept some faults. Being a perfectionist means that I spend considerable energy in looking for perfect solutions when imperfect solutions would have similarly worked (Clifton & Anderson, 2016).

I plan strengthen the two behaviors by attending leadership training programs. These are targeted programs that would introduce me to the appropriate leadership skills and strategies. Besides that, I plan to achieve my personal vision of being a better nurse by attending continuing education programs that improve my professional nursing qualifications. The personal vision is to leverage nursing knowledge and experience in activing as an expert in policy making. The plan for achieving this vision is to continue working as a nurse so as to acquire experience in nursing practice and issues affecting nurses. In addition, there is a need to participate in continuing education programs. This is important for acquiring advanced knowledge that would allow me to take on more responsibilities and be considered an expert (Shellenbarger, 2019).
