Requirements

Group presentations are required to include three components: (1) a PowerPoint that can be uploaded to Blackboard and shared with the class, (2) an experiential activity to put the covered content into practice, and (3) a brief class discussion. The PowerPoint should provide information that defines the childhood issue, describe the significance of the issue, describe the impact of the issue on various aspects of development, and provide parents with evidence-based strategies to prevent, address, or reduce the issue in their own children. The PowerPoint should be no longer than 5-7 slides. Students must use a minimum of two (2) scholarly, peer-reviewed research sources, two (2) credible web sources (i.e., websites), and the textbook for their cited sources.The experiential activity should be creative, interactive, and engage the class in the content previously covered in the group’s PowerPoint. Some ideas for the experiential activity include role-play, videos, quizzes/questionnaires, or hands-on activities.Last, the brief discussion should be used to assess the class’s understanding of the covered content as well as to provide an opportunity for classmates to seek clarity on topics that were ambiguous or confusing. Overall, group presentations should last no longer than 20 minutes in total. Each group member should lead one part of the presentation.
