Explain how the Creed helps shape Christian theology. You must answer BOTH parts A and B of this question. Since parts A and B overlap, feel free to answer them together under topic headings. See below for an example.
A. Cite (fully, word for word) every relevant line of the Nicene Creed that relates to our topics — Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit, and Humanity. Don’t just cite the whole creed; only cite the portions that relate to our areas. Feel free to use headings for each section (Nature of Theology, etc.). [Note: If you have memorized the Creed in a different translation than the one handed out in class (e.g., the Catholic version in English or Spanish), you are encouraged to cite that version.]
B. In at least 1 paragraph per topic, explain how each excerpt of the Creed you cited supports/defines/delimits the respective topic — Jesus Christ, Holy Spirit, and Humanity. You should note if the Creed explicitly affirms certain positions or denies alternate positions; therefore, you should integrate your discussion with orthodox (or “essentials”) and heterodox affirmations treated in class. If the Creed does not directly address one or more of the topics, make that clear as well.
