Urbanization is increasing in many countries in the global south. Many regions are forecast to see strong urban growth over the next few decades. At the same time, the population’s poverty is increasing rapidly. The global south is particularly hard hit, especially when taking climate change into account. In this situation there is an increasing number of infrastructure projects that are funded by the World Bank. The area of living space is particular importance because living is a common good, but with regard to urban growth and climate change it is also subject to aspects of commodification and sustainability. This project is intended to take a look at the housing projects of the World Bank in the last years and analyse how and whether sustainability and social housing are compatible goals or whether there is a problem in this area of tension with regard to the need of having living space. more informationen in the attachement.
