Your source(s) should represent a credible source such as a scientific journal, white paper, or other agency report. Your assignment is as follows:
1) Develop an introduction for your paper, providing background information on the topic including economic impact and/or current statistics. You should use a ‘hook’ statement to get your reader’s attention. This hook should reflect the topic’s importance. It is not a vaudeville statement or untruth, nor should it be inflammatory or derogatory. It should be factual.
The last sentence in the introduction should represent a thesis statement that encompasses what you will discuss in your paper, focusing on the ‘sides’ of the issue. See the accompanying document on thesis development. This is not a position or argumentative paper. This is analytical and/or expository in nature.
2) Once you’ve developed your introduction, outline the remaining paragraphs of your paper. Let your thesis build your paper for you. Think about how you will discuss the topic. Focus on fact-supported information, avoiding opinion statements. This is where multiple sources are helpful. For example, if you are writing on an environmental problem, what might the outline look like?
Make sure to reference your sources within the text using APA citation format.
