Note Preamble
This individual assignment requires you to integrate your learning from across the module and to focus on the relationship between Bolman and Deal’s 4 frames and the processes of change management. In the assignment, it is expected that you will demonstrate your capacity for researching the topic and engaging in critical analysis by considering evidence from different perspectives, even where they challenge/ contradict each other!! Using a range of academic sources beyond the core module material will certainly help you with this assignment.
Format and Presentation
- 4 short-answer essay but linked theme
- Each sets a specific task that you must address
- ‘Undertake a critical review….’, ‘Analyse…’, ‘Critically assess and compare….’, ‘Reflect on….’
- NOT a report….. No need for Executive Summary etc.
- It is useful to state clearly at the start of each part what you intend to do in addressing the task – helps to clarify things for you and gives the reader a clear sense of direction
- Reach a conclusion for each part
- Avoid more than a minimum of descriptive information, especially from the cases but also about your company
- Do not research additional information on the case study companies
- Do use additional academic sources on the key themes – change management, multiple perspectives but keep the number small – maybe 2 or 3
- Try to avoid note/ bullet-point presentation – try to maintain a narrative in answering your question
Addressing the tasks
- Questions are separate but interlinked by theme – management of change and Bolman and Deal’s framing and re-framing
- Read each task very carefully so that you answer what is required and not what you would like the question to be!!!!!
- No benefit in repeating information – you can, if necessary, refer back to what you said in another part
