Assessment Portfolio of Lesson Plans and Rationale
You are required to collate a portfolio of lesson plans. This should include 3 lessons, reflecting different levels of students (e.g. beginner, intermediate, advanced) and different approaches and techniques for teaching discussed in the unit. The lesson plans must demonstrate an understanding of (a) sentence-level grammar, (b) text-level grammar, and (c) lexico-grammar (use of vocabulary) as the basis of teaching grammar. The lesson plans may deal separately with each type of grammar or integrate them within one lesson plan.
The lesson plan must include information about aims and objectives, materials, target audience, context, class activities (e.g. introduction, evaluation, tasks etc). Each lesson plan must be accompanied by a rationale of 400-500 words (or 1200-1500 combined), justifying the sequence and choice of activities, and drawing on grammar literature. A reference list of sources referred to in the rationale/discussion must be included at the end of the rationale. Lesson Plans should be no more than 2 pages.
You are encouraged to include one lesson (only one) based on the preparation you undertook in Assessment Item 1 (Preparation Portfolio).
