For this assignment, you will prepare a professional Letter to Shareholders based on your company’s performance in the business simulation. This letter should communicate your company’s strategic direction, highlight key achievements, acknowledge challenges, and present future objectives. It should also clearly position your company against its most direct competitor.
Shareholder letters are common in real-world business reporting and are meant to inform and build confidence among investors. Please approach this assignment as if you are executives writing to actual shareholders of your firm.
Requirements
1. Letter to Shareholders (2 pages)
Your letter should include the following components:
A. Company Strategy Update
- Describe your overall strategy in the simulation so far.
- Explain your target markets and customer segments.
- Summarize your strategic priorities (e.g., cost leadership, differentiation, innovation).
B. Management Structure
- Provide an overview of how your team is organized.
- Explain the decision-making approach your team has adopted.
C. Key Accomplishments
- Highlight major achievements to date (e.g., market share gains, profitability, product development, financing decisions, marketing wins).
D. Key Challenges
- Identify obstacles your company has faced.
- Discuss how your team addressed or plans to address them.
E. Future Performance Objectives
- Describe your short-term and long-term goals for the company.
- Include expected improvements in performance, market position, product quality, or customer satisfaction.
F. Competitor Analysis
- Identify your most direct competitor in the simulation.
- Compare your performance, strategy, and market positioning.
- Explain why you expect to outperform them in the future (supported by data, trends, or strategic reasoning).
2. Supporting Exhibits (up to 5 pages)
You should include up to five exhibits to strengthen your letter. These may include charts, tables, graphs, or screenshots from the simulation.
