Module Rationale
Marketing Management concerns how a company implements and manages the marketing concept. This module develops the principles and frameworks of marketing, introduced at level four, and applies the perspective of managerialism to these core principles. In this respect, the module’s focus is on the 4 core managerial activities in the context of marketing; planning, implementation, leadership and control. The module also seeks to build upon these core principles and explore the context of marketing management implementation in small businesses, not for profit, sports, places and retailing.
Overall Aim of the Module
- To provide knowledge and understanding of the planning, implementation and control of marketing across diverse organisational contexts.
- Understand the issues, concepts and theories concerned with the management of marketing within an organisation
- Identify, analyse and apply relevant marketing and consumer behaviour theory to practical, real life marketing problems, while formulating solutions to a range of marketing contexts.
- Locate, extract and analyse marketing information, consider arguments and draw reasoned conclusions from multiple sources, including the appropriate acknowledgment and referencing of sources.
- Demonstrate the ability to justify marketing strategies and advocate a strategically informed position when considering marketing plan implementation.
