Component 1
Overview:
For a company of your choice, locate a sustainability report for a specific operational area and produce a briefing paper outlining how they could develop their sustainability commitment and improve that element of their operation.

Guidance:
For a company of your choice, locate their online sustainability report for one of the following operational areas and produce a briefing paper outlining how they could develop their sustainability commitment and improve that element of their operation:
 Energy use
 Reducing plastic
 Product redesign
 Water use
 Transport
 Pollution and the alternatives

 Supply chains and their management
 Workplace issues
 CSR
 Merchandising materials
 Marketing Communications

You will need to consider the pressures upon the business to become more sustainable, the challenges it might face, and any relevant developments in the sector in which it operates. You should then outline a strategic approach to making the change with potential targets and objectives.

Introduction:
 Introduce the report (summary of the report).
 Setting the scene for/of the business.
 Who/what is it and what does it do?

Areas of Concern:
 Outline the particular areas of concern related to your chosen type of business.
 What is it doing wrong (badly, unsustainably, impacts etc.… In contrast to others doing better?) Evaluation of Business practices:
 A critical evaluation of alternative business practices relevant to identified concerns.
 Thought on what they might do…alternatives?

Recommendations and Conclusion:
 What they should do…how they should do it…include strategic thoughts…targets, outcomes, KPIs etc.

Component 2
Overview:
A 2500-word individual reflective report on your learning within the module, in particular the effect the learning has had on you, how it may affect your future choices and how it is operationalized within your wider stakeholder roles.

Guidance:
In this assignment you are being asked to identify what has been significant for you in terms of your learning in this module, what effect this learning has had on you, what effect it may have on your future choices and how it is operationalised within your wider stakeholder roles.

 Introduction – reflect on what you have learnt through studying each of the three chosen topics?
 What are the discussions and the academic literature surrounding each of the managing sustainability topics?
 Reflect upon the significance/challenges/debates surrounding each topic.
 How will you use what you have learnt from each topic?

This means your work will reflect on what was covered in the sessions and/or what you have learned from your independent reading, and that you are able to be appropriately critical and reflective of the learning and accumulated knowledge (it is not a critique of the teacher’s style or level of enjoyment). You must engage with the topic (x 3).
