Data analytics played an important in any business context. Be it on daily operational or projects, evaluating the existing performance, study the data patterns and representing it well with suitable data visualization is important to help decision making.

Based on scenario in your workplace and company, explain one situation where data analytics has been effectively used. Show a few examples where possible. In addition, identify one gap for improvement. Your output should contain the following:

CASE STUDY ON TIME SERIES AND DECISION MATRIX

Question 2

A sales outlet has been in operating in same location for the past four years. The retail outlet manager intends to study the performance of the revenue. He has collected data (shown in table 1). He is aware that there could be a pattern that drive sales across each quarter.

Using an appropriate time series forecasting method, develop a suitable solution.

a) Visualize a relevant time series graph* to help him understand better.
b) Explain and interpret the result.
* Estimate the 3 quarter and 5 quarters moving averages

Question 3

After operating for 4 years, the retail owner has recognized the e-Commerce has taken up and start to erode some percentage of his business even though the business did record some growth over the years. The retail owner needs to make objective decision whether to continue to invest to renovate the current store to improve visibility for incremental sales or to decide other option. The other option is to launch an e-Commerce platform with minimal cost with the intention of cross platform to increase sales. He needs to evaluate objectively.

The retail store will evaluate based on the total annual sales (from retail outlet) from 5 merchandise (see table 2) and compare an estimated 4% compounded sales increase with eCommerce platform.
