Assessment
Assignment Activities
The assessment is based on a SCORM package scenario relating to an organisation called Talon
Textile Fasteners (TTF) and their WHS processes, procedures and consultation.
There are three parts to the assessment.
Use the appropriate software program to develop your documents or files. You must upload your
document in the required format. Do not compress the document(s) when uploading it/them for
assessment. They must be uploaded as individual files.
Part A – TTF WHS scenario
Instructions
For this assessment you will work through a WHS SCORM package and complete the exercises that
are in this package.
You have 60 minutes to complete this scenario.
Part B – Report
Instructions
After working through the WHS SCORM package you now have an idea of the existing TTF Work
Health and Safety Management System, and its application within TTF.
You now need to produce a 500 – 1000 word document for the CEO, Peggy Woodroofe, providing an
examination of the TTF scenario and providing recommendations addressing the issues that exist.
As part of the document the following should be addressed.
1. A paragraph or two that explains your view on what you have seen and discovered from the
TTF scenario.
2. How can WHS Acts, regulations, codes of practice, policies and procedures contribute to the
development and running of WHS consultation and participation processes? What would
you recommend in this area specific to TTF?
3. What barriers exist in being able to undertake effective consultation and participation
processes? How can you remove these barriers within TTF?
4. What are the issues that arise from the incidents you have been introduced to and how
should these be addressed?
5. How can you adopt and communicate WHS policies that clearly define the organisation’s
commitment to complying with WHS legislation?
6. How can TTF appropriately resolve issues raised through participation and consultation
arrangements according to relevant WHS legislation?
7. Identify the duties, responsibilities of individuals and parties within TTF in a consultative
process. How can you communicate this information to others?
8. How do TTF employees raise relevant WHS issues in meetings and support others to do this?
9. How can TTF promptly provide information about the outcomes of participation and
consultation to workers and ensure it is easy for them to access and understand?
10. What record keeping and communication is required relating to WHS discussions and their
outcomes? How does this tie into workplace procedures?
11. How can you promote the effective follow up of meeting outcomes, and communicate
outcomes of these meetings to others?
12. What are common sources of WHS information within a business such as TTF, and are these
present?
13. Where should a TTF employee be able to locate and obtain WHS information within TTF?
14. What communication methods are available within an organisation such as TTF to
communicate WHS issues?
15. What do documents such as the Incident Summary Report and the Machine Inspection
Report indicate to you, and what recommendations could you make?
Your report should also ensure that it addresses all the requirements with the assessment rubric.
Your document should be presented in a suitable business format with a font size of 12, and single
line spacing. Word count can be up to an additional 10%.
Part C – Role Play and Conversation
Instructions
For this part of the assessment you will hold a meeting with another person. The other person will
play the role of the CEO of TTF (gender is not relevant for this exercise).
The meeting will be approximately five minutes in length.
You will record the conversation that is held (voice only) using a microphone, computer, webcam,
phone or other device. Before the meeting is held you should test that the recording works.
You will discuss the following at the meeting:
1. Communication barriers that exist within TTF, and how these can be addressed to ensure
that TTF have effective WHS consultation and participation processes.
2. Provide two examples of issues with the WHS consultation process, and how those involved
in the issues should address their duties, rights and responsibilities.
3. Within your own workplace, how you can:
a. Raise WHS issues, and support others in this.
b. Communicate WHS discussions and outcomes to others.
c. Communicate outcomes of WHS meetings to others.
d. Communicate WHS information to others using a range of communication methods.
You are looking for feedback and improvements you can make,
You will record this conversation, and upload this to the MyUpskilled site.

Present information using language and non-verbal features appropriate to audience

range of work contexts
Use appropriate interpersonal skills to encourage contributions and elicit ideas from others
Instructions
1. Plan and organise a meeting area, or similar, to hold the meeting.
2. Invite another person to the meeting, explaining that they will play the role of CEO of TTF.

provided with examples of documents you have produced.
