Choose one perspective from Chapters 11 or 12 and write a one to two page paper explaining your subject’s personality using that perspective. Select from: 1. Carl Rogers – Self Actualization, Self-Determination, & Self and Processes of Defense, 2. Maslow’s Hierarchy of Motives, 3. Existential Perspective, or 4. Cognitive Perspective-Representing Experience of the World. Format: For Components 2, 3, and 4 the first paragraph (1/3 to ½ page should be a synopsis of the theory/perspective you will be using to analyze the person. The remainder of the paper is your drawing on examples from the person’s life/personality/behavior to propose explanations according to the theory/perspective you are using. The paper should be neat and well written (grammar, word choice and mechanics). Other than this the only style requirement is when a source is used it should be cited using APA style within the text and in a reference page in addition to the analysis portion. Your text and any other reference you use as a source for theory/perspective information should be cited on your reference page. The reference page should be in APA style. Evaluation will be a combination of writing quality and how well the personality characteristics are explained by the perspective/theory chosen. When the assignment is turned in within Blackboard an assessment will happen automatically to check for plagiarism. In order to avoid problems with this assessment it is best to summarize material and cite sources of information.
