Deconstruction strategies for reading scripture. Write a 6-8 page (double-spaced) paper on 1 Peter 3: verses 1-10 passage, which will utilize at least one main deconstruction strategies (see course schedule for weeks 10-12) for reading scripture (Postcolonial, deconstructions based on race, gender, sexuality, or politics, to name a few). These papers should introduce the passage including its overall form, structure, genre, etc. prior to engaging the strategy for deconstructing previous notions of the passage. These papers will utilize multiple (at least 5) scholarly sources, citing them in full Chicago Style (see chicagomanualofstyle.org for more information). Papers will be submitted through Blackboard and will be due November 29th, 2020 by 11:59PM PT Students should follow good paper-writing practices; i.e. structuring one’s paper with an introduction, using headings for each section, and providing a conclusion in which the paper is properly summarized and wrapped up. It is important when writing any academic paper to be concise, clear, and direct in what you write. Please utilize a thesis statement/ argument which sets up your paper, good transitions from section-to-section and paragraph-to-paragraph, as well as good summaries. It is important to not “over-quote” so that your voice becomes lost (paraphrase instead, but make sure you always cite sources).
