Does popular culture deserve academic study?
1. Find three different sources (one scholarly journal article, one online article, and one source of your choice) that explores the topic. The assigned article may be used as one of your sources.
2. Compose a four-section annotated bibliography using these three sources. The bibliography should be organized as follows:
Opening section that includes:
A paragraph (3-5 sentences) explaining your position on the topic (are you for or against the academic study of popular culture?) and your goals in writing the argument essayA sentence identifying which format (APA or MLA) you will be using for your bibliography
Three sections that each include:
A summary (3-5 sentences) of the source (to review summarizing source material see Chapter 10 in the Effective Writing textbook).A brief evaluation (1-2 sentences) of the source explaining how you plan on using it in your essay.
In addition, your bibliography should have:
A creative title that portrays the assignment topic Personal pronouns may be used in the opening section and brief evaluations but should be free of qualifiers.Proper grammar, Canadian English spelling, and format conventionsFormal language (no slang or contractions) Little to no passive voice usComplete sentences and paragraphsAt least two transitional words or phrases
