Due Date: DB#2’s response is due by 11:59 p.m. Wednesday, 1/11. Completing this assignment by its deadline will note your attendance for this day.
Assignment: Read the instructions for exercise #1 on page 28 of your TS. Although you are not completing this exact assignment, understanding it will help you work with the list of topics on page 29. Using said list, complete the following tasks:
Pick 3 of the 6 topics. Make sure you let your reader know what three you picked by using the number and the exact text from the book.
Next, identify the opposing side’s argument. This is your chance to get creative, but you have to stay within the realm of probability.
Finally, provide a common ground for the problem.
For example:
A. Our experiment suggests that there are dangerous levels of chemical X in the Ohio groundwater.
The company that produces chemical X believes the levels are within healthy ranges.
Both sides have agreed to allow a third party to test the groundwater for chemical X.
Then, discuss the following in a few sentences:
What was the hardest part of coming up with a common ground?
What was the easiest part of coming up with a common ground?
Guidelines for Completing Discussion Questions: Your response to the assigned discussion question should be at least 250 words in length. Failure to complete all parts of the assignment or submitting underdeveloped answers will lead to point deductions. This discussion question response is due by 11:59 p.m. on its assigned due date. Your response should be clear, developed, and progressive, meaning that it adds depth to the discussion. Often times, it’s great to respond to the assigned prompt using examples from the texts or materials and then end with one or two questions of your own to help add to a running conversation.
