Health Well-being and Nutrition |
Students are to consider how a director/manager of early childhood care and education service would need to provide for one selected area of health, safety, or nutrition. Using this knowledge, the students are to construct two center policies to show how the regulatory requirements can be put into practice in this chosen area.
You must refer to six sources of scholarly literature.
How to Approach
Step 1: Identify the area of focus. For example (but not limited to):
a) Nutrition: Safe storage and handling of food; Responding to children’s food preferences
b) Safety: Sun Smart; Construction of play spaces; Excursions; Sign in and out procedures
c) Health: Physical activity; Communicable diseases
Step 2: Discuss this area of focus in relation to children’s wellbeing
Step 3: Research the regulations AND literature that are associated with this chosen area
Step 4: Consider the processes and procedures that are needed to apply these regulations in your own center
Step 5: Design two policies that support your research. Your policies should include:
a) Background information related to the policy area (i.e. Prevention of communicable disease)
b) Aims and objectives
c) Implementation strategies
d) Consideration of the specific responsibilities of staff members
e) Method of evaluation
