Research other ways stereotypes have real world effects. Use what we have read in class, what you’re reading in other classes, and your research to help you build an answer to the question: How do stereotypes affect people’s daily lives?
One researcher and writer I recommend is Dr. Claude Steele, who also addresses how a person’s identity affects the performance and success of students in academia. Throughout the many articles and books he has authored, he examines how black students can struggle because of stereotypes about intelligence, white students can struggle when stereotyped as racially insensitive, and how women in math experience lower performance when reminded of their gender.
