Discuss the implications of artificial intelligence (AI) on the legal field. The topic I have chosen is about Lethal Autonomous Weapons. Please discuss whether existing humanitarian/international law is sufficient to deal with Lethal Autonomous Weapons (LAWs). Who do we hold responsible when a LAW commits a war crime? Please be sure to mention International Humanitarian Law (IHL), the ICCPR, and other bodies of international law in the essay. Also please make an argument one way or another: is existing international law sufficient to deal with LAWs or do we need a new legal scheme? If we do need a new legal scheme, what would it be? Give the AI legal personhood? Who would be responsible–the military personnel, the programmer–and why? All citations must be in Bluebook format and in footnotes. I will also include some helpful readings from my class for reference, please try to incorporate them if possible. I really need a writer with a J.D. or someone with a paralegal background to do this project.
