Due Date:
         11 Jun 21
Weight: 50%
Marked out of: 50
Task Description:

Students are required to research and write an Issues Paper of approx. 3500-4000 words. The Issues Paper is to be fully referenced with a Reference List (i.e., not a Bibliography) of only those sources directly cited in the text. Students will then identify and explain the role and function of the international organisation or relevant international body (such as a treaty monitoring committee or court of arbitration) created to implement, monitor and/or settle disputes regarding the selected treaty.

This first part of the assignment will already have been developed by the Issues Paper Worksheet, and the revised and expanded text of this may be used in the Issues Paper Major Assignment.

Students are then required to make a critical assessment of to what extent their chosen treaty and organisation (or other international body) have been effective in regulating the issue area. This section should comprise at least half of the paper. Further information and instructions will be given in class and on the 7021GIR [email protected] website. The assignment will be workshopped in classes after the Mid-Trimester Exam in wk. 6.
