The use of translational research can be applied to the areas of ecological/global issues, social determinants of health, principles of genetics, and genomics to decrease the burden of disparities, global disease, and acute or chronic national epidemics. Due to the rise of innovative technologies, they allow translational research to occur across multiple mediums simultaneously which can be driven by the identification of specific predictive biomarkers of response to avoid ineffective therapies and reduce adverse effects (De Maria Marchiano et al., 2021). The use of translational research can give providers, scientist, and patients the ability to review, research, and apply medical techniques that have the potential to change the direction of a disease process and or reduce the risk of health disparities by bridging gaps. Translational research can be used to determine specific treatments that are more beneficial to one ethnicity verses another. The use of translational research can also quickly disseminate data that will be required to reach a specific health population and educate them regarding risks and benefits associated with new treatments, immunizations, and prevention of chronic illnesses. The use of translational research can aid in reduction of mortality rates where they are currently the highest.
