Probably different then you usually provide – We’re looking for potential lecture materials and resources for a professional short-course focusing on; the “what”, “various methods”, and the basic “how to” of Psychology Research as related to Sport, Health and Community Recreation.
Course to be scheduled for a small group of interns, over 9-12 face-to-face hours (probably six 90-120 minute sessions, or three 4-hour sessions).
We’re focusing on potential interns who will be working with Sport (elite to beginner), Community Health and Recreation Organisations, and may be asked to assist with, and/or, develop these types of projects.
Students will have had exposure to the fundamentals of academic research.
We basically want to give students a broad overview of what this type of research generally entails, potential target focus areas, methods that are/can be used, types of studies, etc.
We’re visualising the following general content that fits the time frame;
– The fundamentals of the various formats and methods of Psychology research that are/can be used related to Sport, Health, and Community Recreation.
– An overview of various types of tools, surveys, measures, that are typically/or can be, used in doing Psychology research; personality assessment tools, instruments of measurement, etc.
Perhaps some standardized assessment tools or surveys students give to each other in a class session.
– 3 to 4 case studies of successful studies that give an example of Psych research from start to finish that can be discussed in a lecture session by the instructor..
– A reference list, and pdf copies, of completed studies students can analyse and then discuss within the class.
We visualise a mostly power-point format (these can be very plain as they will be converted depending on where/who they are presented to), but welcome, other resources such as videos/and other learning aids that may be provided. References, of course.
