How then do we know what is good grounded theory research and what isnt?

Use of literature: does that follow an abductive logic?
Data collection and analysis: is this an iterative process, back and forth?
Sampling: Do we see theoretical sampling, or an imitation of frequentist statistics? Does the sampling, particularly in later stages of the (circular) research process help to refine emergent codes, categories, concepts? Because that’s what it should be able to do. So in a sense have people asked the question ‘what kind of case would I need to look at next to be able to refine my emerging hypothesis?’
Codes and coding: Does it start from data, are the codes/tags close to the vocabulary used in your material? Are there stages of coding that are increasingly more abstract, but still linked to the data? Or is there a process of ‘translating’ data into pre-existing theoretical terms?
Memo writing and memos: Is there a reflection on the crucial role of memos? Do authors quote from their memos, for instance?
Theoretical saturation: what is the evidence given that saturation point has been reached? Is this evidence credible? How did the author determine that it’s time to stop the circle?
Categories and theories: Does all of this actually lead to theoretical insight, ie to general conceptual tools (relations between concepts, to use Howard Becker terminology) that would help us understand other cases / the world better? Another instance of ‘So what?!’
