Reflecting upon material presented is an important aspect of traditional Indigenous approaches to teaching and learning. This paper asks you to think about the material you have learned and to articulate your understanding of the material.
The reflection papers are a reflection of your learning. They serve to illustrate your thoughts and perspectives on the course content. Reflection papers are intensely personal and are written in the first person. Your paper can be as creative as your imagination allows you to go.
Please reflect on the material from each of modules 7, 8 and 9 in your reflection paper. Please incorporate at least one reference from each of the three modules.
The reflection paper text will focus on lecture content and reading from modules/weeks 7 to 9 as a response to address the challenges and work of Indigenous resurgence: What does it mean to be a good neighbour? The reflection paper text will incorporate 21 Things you need to know about the Indian Act, the Medicine Circle and key questions 1 to 4.
Your reflection paper will be approximately 750 to 800 words in length. The paper will focus on key questions 1 to 4. They are as follows;
What is the historical record?
What is the rationale that informs the historical record?
What are the implications of the historical record?
What is the legacy of this history?
The focus of the reflection paper is to provide the reader with an understanding of what you have learned, encountered and read. Use the key questions and other descriptive headings to help you to create your paper. You are to discuss what you have learned and how your own assumptions, understandings and ideas may have changed.
