First Section: Background (1/2 page – 1 page)
Independent Variable (x) – this is the variable that you ‘claim’ to know something about.
Dependent Variable (y) – this is something that you want to try to predict, or learn more about.
Your last sentence, or within your last few sentences you’ll need to write your hypothesis (thesis statement).
Example: I think these two variables will have a positive, strong correlation.
Second Section: Major Moments (1 page – 2 pages)
You need a minimum of three major moments. This is your opportunity to explain why your correlation wasn’t
as strong as you thought it might be. What happened that screwed up your project? Who/what is to blame?
Third Section: Data Analysis (1 page)
Review your ‘r’, correlation coefficient. Is this what you expected? What other factors could be influencing your
results? This is what I’d do different …
Final Section: Future Prediction (1/4 – ½ page)
MAKE A FUTURE PREDICTION!!!! Using the y hat = b0 + b1x formula that you’ve created, pick a value for x
and solve for y hat.
