Outcomes/Deliverables

- A cost-benefit analysis comparing HGAF outsourcing or purchasing zero waste resources and supplies
- A position description for the Zero Waste Hero team leader and volunteers
- Training resources for Zero Waste Hero’s
- A list and pricing of zero waste audience consumables which could be marketed at the festival
Objectives:

- To create a festival culture of ‘bring it in – take it home’ or recycle
- To ensure Zero Waste Hero’s know and understand the principles and practices of Zero Waste

Approaches:
To achieve the goals by considering some of the following approaches (but certainly not limited to):

- Internet search low cost products and consumables
- Liaise with Para Kura and other Hamilton/Waikato waste management providers
- Review the reports and learning from the 2020 festival

- Consider the impact of the Gourmet in the Gardens silver service on zero waste and how it could be achieved in the future
- Liaise with the HGAF media and marketing team to incorporate zero waste in all of our marketing
Constraints:
- The cost to HGAF for the 2021 festival should not exceed last year’s spend
- Any recommended waste hardware should have a 3-5 year life span
- Implementation of the HGAF zero waste plan should not require full-time resource
- The HGAF Zero Waste plan should meet the Health and Safety Standards of NZ.
