Question 1
Our environment faces several challenging issues and many of these have worsened with time. Among these challenges, one critical issue that has been identified is the shortage of resources, such as food to sustain the rising global population. In recognition of your expertise in the international community on radiation, you have been tasked to conduct a study and generate a report on radiation sterilization applications to tackle this issue.
The report must include the following elements:
(a) A description of a facility that is equipped with suitable radiation sources and the detailed process to alleviate or resolve the problem.
(b) Identification of the potential safety and security issues that may arise from the use of radiation at the facility and the proposed mitigation solutions.
(c) A Radioactive Waste Management Plan and
(d) A Decommission Plan of the facility at the end of its operational stage.
Question 2
A literature review on how radiation & radioactivity are used in various industries and the kinds of detectors used in detecting and measuring ionizing radiation besides how radiation safety is practiced.
The review should cover:
(a) Sources of radiation and radioactivity.
(b) Radiation detectors are used to manage the hazards in this workplace.
(c) What are the radiation safety measures used?
