Step ONE: Choose TWO READINGS from the assigned documents to perform a compare/contrast analysis. If there is only ONE assigned reading skip to bottom.
Step TWO: Figure out what you think is the most significant SIMILARITY between the two passages. Explain why you think this similarity is important for European history in the first paragraph of your response.
Consider the author’s perspective (national origin, class, ideology etc) for each document.
Step THREE: Figure out what you think is the most significant DIFFERENCE or disagreement between these two sources (same sources). Explain why you think this difference is important for European history in the second paragraph of your response.
STEP FOUR: Using the compare/contrast, what is the ONE most important thing we can learn from the two selected documents? How can they help us understand the past?
Do NOT use quotations or paraphrase the document. You may refer to specific passages but do not summarize the document. “ex. Where Thomas Paine talked about hereditary right, he was focused on the legitimacy of an absolute monarchy.” The paper should consist entirely of your own ideas and opinions about the sources using a compare/contrast approach. Therefore, citations should never be required.
IN THE CASE OF ONE ASSIGNED READING: Read the assigned literature, and reflect on what the author is trying to say about the world around them? Present THREE ideas from the text that you feel represent the main commentary by the author, and explain why these ideas offer significant insight into the history of the twentieth century
Compare the article in the picture and the video and write an analysis. Do not use any outer sources.
