A cross-flow heat exchanger is to be designed which will cool 3 Ibm/sec of air from 2000P to 100°P’ The cooling flow is 3 Ibm/sec of air with an inlet temperature of SO°p’ The hot fluid is to be cooled in surface 17.8-i W, a wavy-fin plate surface, and the cold fluid is to flow through’ surface 12.00T, a plain-fin surface. Data and information for both surfaces are presented in Pig. 3-20. The inlet pressure for both sides is 16 psia, with the prescribed drops of 16lbf/ft2 for the hot-fluid side and 24 Ibf/ft2 for the cold-fluid side. The parting plates which separates the surfaces are 0.0015 ft thick. Determine the heat-exchanger dimensions required to meet the specifications.
