Hello Doctor Abbs and classmates,
Case management serves as a professional that conducts assessments on clients, looking to identify various concerns and needs. Case management is centered on enhancing people’s lives and lending support and solutions to problems so that they do not continue to worsen in the future (Summers, 2016). There are various ways that a case worker provides assistance to clients and in different settings. Four areas that encompass case management is assessing, constructing a plan, linking appropriate services to the client, and monitoring the process and development of the case (Summers, 2016). The case manager does not provide individual therapy and counseling sessions but derives a multidisciplinary plan to address the identified areas of concern. One example where a case worker may be employed is with a hospital and serves as the liaison between different medical departments and outside resources.
Case management involves using different techniques and approaches when assessing a client and constructing a plan to assist and improve their current problems. It is crucial that a caseworker have excellent listening skills so that they may interpret what a client is communicating. Rephrasing statements from a client assures that the caseworker is actively listening and can clarify any misunderstandings. A client offers a lot of information through conversation and a caseworker is required to be able to identify areas that need to be addressed through this exchange. The caseworker can then appropriately refer the client to assist in solving their problems.
Respectfully,
Holly
