ILO: Apply hermeneutical principles to the exegetical process.

Prompt: 

This module, we will be looking at the contextual analysis of a verse and work toward its meaning. As with last module, this module’s verses are highly misused verses in the Church. Please choose and read one of the following verses to discuss this module:

Jeremiah 29:11

Philippians 4:13

Psalm 46:10

2 Timothy 1:7

Before doing a light contextual study, from what you have learned from Elements of Biblical Exegesis, answer the following:

What were you taught about this verse, or what have you believed it to mean? (at least 50 words)

Now, using the tools you have learned from your readings and this course, take some time and analyze this passage’s immediate context and answer the following question.

What is happening in the surrounding verses (both before and after the passage) and chapters? What is the theme of Jeremiah? Doing a little research, what does both the historical and contextual analysis teach us about this verse? Make sure to explain and show from where you are getting your information and thoughts.
