You (and a partner, if you choose) will research a controversial event or issue related to the philosophy of sport, and write a 7-10-page typed, double-spaced argumentative paper. The paper is due in the last week of the term. “Philosophy of sport” should be interpreted broadly. You may select from any number of topic areas we cover, and others we do not (sport as a platform for political display, paternalism and PEDs, cheating in sport, theories of general management and the “dehumanization” of sport, body alteration/engineering for enhanced performance, gender norms and their impact on sport, exploitation in collegiate athletics). Please run suggestions by me if you are not sure of its worthiness to study. I expect you to consult multiple authoritative sources and then integrate your findings into your paper. Think in terms of an argumentative paper or a research proposal A Powerpoint/Keynote or PDF of the presentation must be submitted as well. You will be graded on how well you present the relevant issues, the organization of your presentation, and your command of the critical narrative you develop in your paper.
