You are choosing to write on only 1 essay topic out of the 5 different topics provided .    Sources that can be used: OpenStax, any article already provided, scholarly articles from educational based websites (with websites included as a footnote each time you refer to a quote or an example). Sources not to be included, Wikipedia, Quizlet, any student forums which share essays, or further obvious sites like that. I trust that you know the proper outlets for research used for educational purposes.  And lastly, this is more of an essay on your thoughts and perspective of the material and display of knowledge with what you learned. Quotes can be used, but kept at a minimum.  A good rule of thumb with papers is to keep quotes at 20% total of your writing, the rest, 80%, should be your own sentences.  The purpose of this also is to go into a bit deeper on some of the topics we have already covered. The assignment is more so like a very long textbook assignment, only this time you will cover one area in greater length. Be organized with your points, paragraphs, and always clearly state what your main points are.      Essay topics   1. Agriculture first changed the world, then Industrialization changed it completely again. Specifically with the U.S. talk about how industrialization changed cities and farms. You can include discussions about machinery, migration, poverty, wealth, social movements, the growth of cities, etc.     2. The Jazz Age was a vibrant era in U.S History. Discuss cultural and social movements during this time. How did things change and what were different ways of viewing the world? Include major characters/artists and dive a bit deeper into what made this era so unique. Provide specific examples in your writing.   3. Things turned upside down during the Great Depression. America was in chaos, from severely high unemployment rates, to the Dust Bowl destroying farms and crops, to a mass migration from the east to west with people in search of jobs. Discuss in detail the different issues the nation went through. Are there any similarities with what you see today? To tie up the conversation, discuss how the government was involved in solving the Depression.   4. World War II defined everybody in different ways. Men left overseas to fight the war, thousands of women flooded the factories and became machinists, skilled technicians, operators. Discuss in depth the different ways America changed as a result of this war. Include specific examples from the text and also any articles that you find.   5. The Cold War was a different vibe. Nuclear threat changed the way we see the world, that underlying fear that at any moment, nuclear war can devastate entire countries. There are many aspect of the Cold War you can talk about, choose 2 specific topics and dive into them a bit deeper. You can include info about the atomic bomb, bomb shelters, the stereotypical 1950’s family, relations between the U.S and the Soviet Union, etc.
