This module will be assessed by Individual Assignment. This contributes 100% of overall marks for the module and is based on a 3000 words individual assignment. Assessment (100%): The Individual Assignment is specifically seeking to assess abilities and skills in the Learning Outcomes below:

LO1
Explain a range of approaches to organisational management that have emerged and the different contexts within which this emergence took place.
LO2
Demonstrate an appreciation of the interrelationships between approaches to organisational management and the outcomes (intended and unintended) that have been identified as associated with such approaches.
LO3
Analyse and offer reasoned arguments on the effectiveness of arrangements in contemporary organisational settings, drawing upon their understanding of differing approaches to organisational management to inform their work.
LO4
Identify assumptions underpinning differing approaches to organisational management and question how appropriate they are for differing and complex contexts within which they are deployed.

Assignment
Select an organisation from any industry that you are familiar with or have access to online. Discuss how the management practices that you have discovered in that company, reflects the theories (classical and scientific management; human relations theory; systems approach or the contingency approach) of management. You should focus on linking the theory to organisational practice.
Do not apply all four theories to your assignment. Aim to discuss and explore the dominant theories of management practice (2 or a maximum of 3)
Your assignment must apply various concepts introduced in the module and allow you to acquire a deeper understanding of one particular industry. Remember to use academic sources (not opinion) to base your argument. (3000 words limit)
