Instructions for the Final Business Project
Entrepreneurship and Small Business Final Project-Business Plan Analysis
BUSINESS PLAN ANALYSIS PROJECT:
You will operate as a consultant to advise your client on the elements of his/her company’s business plan. In doing so, you will prepare a final business plan as a recommendation to your approved company.
Your approach to the analysis will be “how would I design and operate this business if I had thought of it.”
The company you choose can be a company you might like to create for a new business opportunity, or a small business that you have researched or worked for and have an interest, or any small business that you have researched and found via the Internet. If you choose to analyze a company found on the Internet, be sure to cite the source in your paper.
A minimum of 3 sources must be used as support in your business plan. These should be cited within the body and listed on a Reference Page as the last page (in APA format.)
You will submit your Business Plan Analysis project as a Word document (.doc or .docx). Be certain that you have read and understood the instructions for the final project as outlined in the Entrepreneurship and Small Business Final Project-Business Plan Analysis below. Cite and indicate your sources using APA 7.0 formatting (where applicable). Some general sources dealing with entrepreneurship include Inc. Magazine, Entrepreneur magazine, or Fast Company magazine (all of which have additional websites to provide resources that will help you complete your plan). Use any reputable business websites to help you build your plan, and remember to cite each of these and include them on your Reference page. This project gives you the chance to develop your skills in evaluating (a) the origins of a business and the environment in which it is started, (b) the elements of business feasibility, and (c) how the operations of a business are reflected in the financial statements of the business. The project report consists of 4 required parts. This project guides you through thinking about how opportunities meet unmet needs in the market, how the existing environment in which the business exists affects its feasibility, and how the feasibility of a business is evaluated in several components. Use your BYB assignments to assemble the project, and add any necessary information that may not have been included in your BYB assignments. The total number of pages for the Business Plan Analysis will be between 20‐25 pages. The recommended page requirements are indicated by section below:
Part 1:
For the first part, you will use research from the internet. You will complete Sections 2.0, 3.0, and 4.0 as identified in Appendix 2 BizBuilder Business Plan in the textbook. You will answer the questions based on your interview (where applicable) and other research.
For questions where you don’t have a clear answer, as the expert, answer the question(s) based on your readings and what you would recommend to the business owner. The sections should be submitted in paragraph form. Graphs, tables, and images are allowed to convey business concise recommendations.
Please include the sources. The following are page length requirements: Section 2.0 -‐ 1.5 pages, Section 3.0 -‐ 2‐3 pages, and Section 4.0 -‐ 3‐4 pages.
Part 2:
For the second part, you will complete Sections 5.0 and 6.0 as identified in Appendix 2 BizBuilder Business Plan of the textbook. Your responses should include research from industry periodicals, scholarly articles and/or trade magazines. These sections provide you with the opportunity to conduct research on a market segment conducting a market feasibility analysis (what need it meets for customers, who the target customers are, how much customers will be willing to pay for the product or service), utilizing the tools provided in the textbook and other outside readings.
Additionally, you will demonstrate your understanding the significance of operations in a small business to include facilities, human resources, supply‐chain, and research and development. Be certain to include the components from a technical feasibility analysis which includes how easy or difficult is it to build the product or deliver the service, indicate if materials already exist that are readily available. Graphs, tables, and images are allowed to convey business concise recommendations.
Please include the sources. The following are page length requirements for each section: Section 5.0 -‐ 5‐6 pages and Section 6.0 -‐ 5‐6 pages.
Part 3:
For the third part of the project, you will prepare your financial analysis and projections including your projected funding request and exit strategies representing Sections 7.0 and 8.0 (you do not have to respond to 8.3) in Appendix 2 BizBuilder Business Plan of the textbook. You are to present brief financial statements. These sections provide you with the opportunity to demonstrate your mastery of the financial indicators that are used in small businesses and how the business can potentially be funded. In the event the financial information is not available, you can create financial indices that are consistent with the industry to produce the financial statements as guided in Appendix 2. Graphs, tables, and images are allowed to convey business concise recommendations.
Please include the sources. Please include the financial statements in your submission. The following are the page limit requirements for the following sections: Section 7.0 -‐ 6‐7 pages and Section 8.0 -‐ 2‐3 pages.
Part 4:

These sections are considered summations and structure of your business plan. Be certain that the executive summary is supported by the sections found in subsequent sections of the business plan. Please ensure that you include the title page and table of contents with page numbers for each plan section.
Your plan pages must be numbered in the format 1 of x (e.g. 1 of 23, 2 o 23, 3 of 23, …. 23 of 23). Graphs, tables, and images are allowed to convey business concise recommendations.
